Bonjour, friends! Welcome back to my kitchen in beautiful Castelnaudary. Today, I’m sharing a quick and healthy lunch recipe that I prepared for my daughter during her school break—because as a busy mom, I need meals that are nutritious, delicious, and fast.
On the menu today: Lemon Salmon with a Creamy Sauce, White Rice, and Steamed Broccoli—all prepared in 15 minutes or less!
Step 1: Cooking the Rice
Rice is a staple in our home, and my go-to appliance for perfect rice every time is my trusty French Moulinex cookeo. It only takes eight minutes to cook, so I start by rinsing the rice, adding the right amount of water, and setting it to cook while I prepare the rest of the meal.
Step 2: Steaming the Broccoli
For convenience, I love using my Seb Ultra Compact Steamer, which makes steaming vegetables effortless. While I buy most of my produce fresh from the local marché, I like to keep some frozen vegetables on hand for quick meals. Today, I’m steaming some broccoli—just enough for my daughter and me—by adding water to the steamer, placing the broccoli inside, and setting the timer for 15 minutes.
Step 3: Preparing the Salmon
For this dish, I’m using two pieces of fresh salmon that I defrosted earlier. I love using my Bosch Serenity oven because it comes with an air fryer function (and if you’ve been following my episodes, you know I love an air fryer!).
Here’s how I prepare the salmon:
Place the salmon pieces on a baking tray (I use a reusable silicone baking mat for easy cleanup).
Drizzle with olive oil.
Sprinkle with garlic, salt, and freshly squeezed lemon juice.
Set the oven to 200°C and air fry for 12-13 minutes.
Step 4: Making the Creamy Lemon Sauce
No French meal is complete without a delicious sauce! My husband, Franck, is a true Frenchman who appreciates a good sauce, so I always go the extra mile.
For the sauce:
Heat a saucepan over medium-high heat.
Pour in one full container of crème entiere.
Add lemon juice, garlic flakes, parsley, and a touch of paprika.
Stir and simmer until it thickens into a rich, creamy sauce.
Step 5: Setting the Table & Enjoying the Meal
While everything cooks, I take a few minutes to clean up the kitchen, put away my spices, and set the table. I don’t like yelling across the house, so I installed a doorbell system to call my kids to the table—like Pavlov’s dogs, they come running when it rings!
Once everything is ready, I serve the food family-style. My daughter loves my garlic fried rice, so I make extra for her to enjoy later. We sit down together, enjoy our meal, and take a moment to talk and reconnect before continuing our day.
